Hello there!
My name is Katie Brooks. I grew up in Lethbridge, Alberta and spent my life there, except for a six month period in I spent living in, and exploring beautiful Québec. I lived in Chicoutimi Québec, where, I studied the French language, and French Canadian Culture.
My teaching journey began a long time ago, where I forced my teddy bears to "play school". I loved giving them names, making an attendance sheet and teaching them math facts. Alongside my stuffed animals being a supportive role in my career choice I have had some very influential people help foster my decision to become a teacher. One of them being Rhona Harkness (my grade 2 music teacher at Dr. Probe Elementary). Rhona saw my passion to teach at a young age, and on the day I graduated grade six she handed me a card saying "If you ever want to help out in my class room, you are more then welcome!" I took Rhona up on her offer during my first PD day in grade seven. I enjoyed volunteering in her classroom for 12 years. I owe a lot of my passion and experience to the kindness and willingness of the mentorship of this woman.
