KSA #6-- Planning
Description: the purposes of short, medium and long term range planning. They know how to translate curriculum and desired outcomes into reasoned, meaningful and incrementally progressive learning opportunities for students. They also understand the need to vary their plans to accommodate individuals and groups of students.
Planning is an important part of teaching. I can think of moments where I didn't plan enough, and at the end of my lesson, I started to worry because I had 20 minutes left, and no activities left. That is why taking time to plan well thought out lessons is key. It takes some practice at first, you have to go through every single detail, and eventually it becomes second nature. One of my Teacher Professional Growth Plans (TPGP) for PSI was to make sure I had an adequate amount of activities/material for my lessons. I succeed at doing this by keeping track of time, and how long it took my students to work on tasks.
University Courses that have contributed to my knowledge, skills, and attributes for Planning:
EDUC 2500: Orientation into Teaching
EDUC 3501: Curriculum and Instruction
EDUC 3504: Evaluation of Learning
EDUC 3601: Principles of Curriculum and Instruction for Majors
