KSA #16-- Vision of Teaching
Definition: the importance of guiding their actions with a personal, overall vision of the purpose of teaching. They are able to communicate their vision, including how it has changed as a result of new knowledge, understanding and experience.
My vision of teaching is continually ongoing. As my students grow and change, my visions in the classroom change. Some of the ways my vision for teaching has already changed have included:
- going from "it's important to be liked by my students" to "it is important to have a mutual respect in the classroom"... being "liked" will follow when the students respect you, and they have boundaries.
- from "classrooms need to be fun" to "learning needs to be meaningful and engaging". If the material you a teaching the students has meaning to them, and it captivates their attention, they will enjoy learning and want to dive deeper into it!
